Our Team

We are a partner in petcare for our local pet community!

We are a friendly and professional team at Dr Paws Delahey. We work hard in our chosen fields so that we can continue to share our knowledge and provide our expertise to our pet community.

Meet the team:

Dr Jason Arlaud BVSc

When I was seven years old, we moved to a farm on the Mornington Peninsula.  During that time on the farm I was able to observe what the veterinarians did.  After watching  the Veterinarians and  “All Creatures Great and Small” by James Herriot I knew what  career I wanted to pursue.
I took the “scenic route” to obtain a Veterinary degree. I  completed  a Bachelor of Science majoring in Microbiology and Genetics at La Trobe University, then a Masters Degree in Reproductive Science at Monash University before completing a Veterinary degree at The University of Queensland.  My career path has included being employed as a Microbiologist, a human Embryologist, working in reproduction of Cattle and Pigs.
In my Veterinary career I have worked in General Practice and in the twelve months prior to commencing at Dr Paws Delahey, I worked in an Emergency and Critical Care veterinary facility.
At home I have several cats, two dogs and three fish.  The extended family includes a Cockatiel, Rabbit and Guinea Pig.  I enjoy sharing knowledge with owners and building rapport with the owners and patients.  I look forward to meeting you and your pets.

Simone Angus, Senior Surgical and Hospital Nurse

I am a Senior Surgical and Hospital Nurse at Dr Paws Delahey (joining the team in early 2017). I first began in the industry as a trainee in 2008, studying to become a qualified veterinary nurse, in another clinic in Melbourne. Since I was little I have always wanted a career that involved animals. I love the hands-on aspect of being a veterinary nurse as I enjoy looking after animals and ensuring their needs are met. Ensuring my patients have a quick recovery from being unwell is my goal whenever I’m “on the floor”. Unfortunately I have no pets of my own at home at the moment, but my contact with our client’s pets whilst I’m at work keeps the ‘withdrawal symptoms’ at bay!

Shay Barlow, Veterinary Nurse

I started working as a Veterinary Nurse at Dr Paws Delahey in March 2017. I moved to Melbourne from country WA where I did my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nurse Training and have been working in mixed practises for about six years. I have always grown up with animals and have wanted to work with them since I was a little girl. I have already rescued a beautiful little cat from Dr Paws who I absolutely adore and outside of work I love nature walks, the beach and reading!

Mandy Martin, Receptionist/Assistant

I am a receptionist at Dr Paws Delahey. I’m a fairly familiar face after working here for the past several years. As a little girl I had a dream to help animals and I have been lucky enough to combine my passion with my other love: meeting new people and their pets!

It is not only rewarding, but exciting, to watch our clients’ pets grow and become an important family member. I believe with support and education pet owners can provide phenomenal care for their pet, allowing them all to have long, happy, healthy lives. Misty (my dog) and Esther (my cat) are my joy and sunshine every day!

My other passions in life are Animal Mediumship and Animal Communication which I have been studying and enjoy thoroughly!

Maggie Gawart, Qualified Dog Groomer

I have been a professional dog groomer for ten years and have also been a dog grooming teacher for many years.  I possess a Diploma in Animal Technology and an accreditation in dog grooming. My aim is to provide a positive grooming experience for all dogs in my care. My other passion is animal rescue and welfare. I have been involved in dog rescue for many years and have helped save and re-home many pets over that time.  My dogs are all rescues and I am happy that I was able to give them a loving home.
